Course Objective
To increase knowledge and training in Wet Areas / Waterproofing and improve standards resulting in a reduction of complaints.
Topics Covered include:
- Standard of workmanship – qualifications required
- Understanding products – what to use where and why
- Cleanliness and protection of membranes
- Differential movement and how to control it
- Condition of substrates – moisture content
- Falls in substrates and drainage, types of substrates
- Drainage outlets and detailing
- Hobs, Shower Screens – provision for overflow
- Risk levels of different areas – shower/laundry etc
- Door thresholds and sill heights
- Falls in tiled surfaces
- Control of soluble salts
- Over flashings and cappings
- Membrane types
- Bond breakers
- Plumbing and electrical penetrations and balustrades
- Trafficable areas / UV stability external
- Compatibility product / product and product / linings
Waterproofing defects are the number 1 area of building complaints and the most common defects.
Registration will be at 7:15am an the day will run from 7:30am to 2:30pm.
The Grand Pittwater Function Centre is conveniently located at the end of the M2/M7 motorway, between Victoria and Epping Roads and only 20 minutes from the Sydney CBD, making it easily accessible from all parts of metropolitan Sydney
